Preschool special education services at Fairhaven are provided to children 3 to 5 years of age who have developmental delays or other disabilities.  Classes are held Monday through Thursday.  Morning session classes run from 9:00 am to 11:30 am and the afternoon session runs from 12:30 pm to 3:00 pm.  Each classroom consists of eight children with disabilities and eight typically developing peer models. Fairhaven uses the Creative Curriculum as a basis for instruction, which is aligned to the Ohio Department of Education Early Childhood Content Standards. Learning opportunities are designed to enhance children’s creativity, expand problem solving strategies, challenge gross and fine motor skills, broaden social experiences, expand communication and play skills, increase independence and build self-confidence.  Individualized Education Programs are developed for each child by professionals and families that may include Speech, Physical, and Occupational Therapies, depending on eligibility determinations.  The earlier delays are identified, the more progress children can make.  For more information on eligibility determination contact your local school district or click here.
